Post Forum Spam
Unfortunately Spam is something all forums have to deal with. We are very sorry it happens, but sadly there is nothing we can really do about it. For every preventative measure we, or the board creators (phpbb) put out there, they hack their way through. All we can ask is that everyone has patience and deals with the situation as maturely as possible.

If you see Spam, NEVER EVER click on a link!! The links posted by spammers will often give your computer a virus! Not to mention those links are no place you want to be anyway  .

If you find Forum Spam, do NOT reply to it. Replying to it only makes our job much harder as it makes even more of a mess to clean up. Replying to forum spam is pointless and actually violates one of the forum rules as well (no backseat mod'ing, quoted below).

If you see forum spam either ignore it completely (mods WILL find it and destroy it asap) or report it as explained in the rules:
Quote:
No Backseat Moderating. For the respect of our members, please leave the moderator business and rule awareness/enforcement to the moderation team ONLY. If you feel that a member has broken a rule, wait for a moderator to catch it and correct it. If the problem is bad enough that it needs immediate moderator attention, you can easily report the post by clicking the exclamation point in their post (lower right corner of their post) that looks like this > Image. Please do not overload moderators by using that button too freely.

Thank you :)

Post Re: Forum Spam
As a result of the forum spam bots, and the dangerous links they include on their profiles, the 'today's birthdays' feature has been turned off. These spammers have been creating their bogus accounts and listing birthdays for the current date. When we click the profiles of our members who are celebrating a birthday, we get access to all their links as well. In an effort to protect our forum members from these links, there will be no more birthday list for the time being.

It's sad that we all have to lose a great feature because of the spammers, but there really was no other way to protect all of you from the viruses and inappropriate material in their links.

Thank you for your understanding.

Dictionary.com is a great place to look up meanings of words.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/spam
Quote:
spam (spæm)

— vb , spams , spamming , spammed
1. to send unsolicited electronic mail or text messages simultaneously to a number of e-mail addresses or mobile phones

Note that spamming can also consist of sending as little as one unsolicited message as well, since 1 is a number. It doesn't have to be multiple, though spamming generally does consist of sending many unsolicited messages.
